Hello Kaligrafos members,
Happy New Year! I trust everyone had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed your holidays. What?! Too much merriment, food, cookies, etc.! Time to get back on track and if you haven’t already started planning your Valentine exchange, better start thinking about it. Our most anticipated meeting of the year is just a few short weeks away. Your Valentine committee has been sooooo busy getting the beautiful invitations assembled and placed in their envelopes. They will be handed out to the members at the January meeting and mailed to those not in attendance. And don’t forget to save your money for the Valentine Raffle as there are some awesome prizes to be won.
Those members who attended Pam Paulsrud’s workshop in November will be bringing samples of what they did so that the rest of us can oooh and ahhh over them.
If you haven’t signed up for the Mother’s Day card making session on Saturday, January 18th, I hope you will consider helping out. We will spend a good part of the day making cards for the Genesis Woman’s Shelter like we did last year. The shelter was so grateful to us for doing this and helping make the day special for these women. Their children were delighted having so many cards to choose from and being able to give their moms something so beautiful. It’s a labor of love and I’m grateful to each of you that participates in this community outreach.
We have a Mini Workshop entitled Paper Sculpture Flowers taught by member, RafiQ Sellah-Flowers immediately following the January meeting from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Bring your lunch to make sure you don’t miss a minute of this fun instruction. If you haven’t signed up and paid, but still want to attend, you need to contact Betty Barna asap so that RafiQ can be prepared with enough supplies for everyone.
Our next major workshop will be June 18-19 and June 20-21. Back to back workshops with Canadian calligrapher Heather Victoria Held. The first 2 days will feature her Enchanted Meadow workshop and then the next 2 days she will be teaching The Enchanted Letter. This is your opportunity to learn from this extremely talented lady. Limited seating so see myself or June Baty for sign up and take advantage of the discount for taking both classes.
I was so pleased to see 10 members at our Valentine invitation assembly gathering. Volunteering whenever you are able is such a help to our organization. That’s what it’s all about folks.
Nothing gets done without the members involvement. Even if you can only spare an hour or so. It doesn’t take a long time to write a program or workshop review, or to take pictures of our events and send them off to Trish and Sherry for the newsletter and website.
See you at the January meeting!
